Newtown Market Hall

History:

The Market Hall was built at the expense of Wastel Brisco of Newtown Hall to a design by David Walker in 1870. The High Street frontage was given a new face by the then Mid Wales New Town Development Corporation in 1976. Inside it is a hangar-like building with a plain iron roof on iron columns. During the Second World War one side of the building became one of four depots in the town used for storing the Royal Navy’s entire stock of rum.

The building to the left of the entrance in Market Street (now Robert Owen Credit Union) was the Market Vaults public house. The blocked hatch through which the market traders bought their ale from the pub can still be seen inside the Hall.(sourced from http://www.newtown.org.uk/trails2.htm)

Conclusion:

During this investigation there was a large number of people present, these included the 4 members of Mid Wales Paranormal and around 10 people who work at the Market Hall. This in itself means that the evidence can be called into questions as the area investigations is an open area apart from the toilets and sound travels very well. With this at the back of our minds we as a group think that there is some type of presence at the Market Hall. There are a couple of sections of video that we have not been able to explain away as being caused by natural occurrences. We feel that the Market Hall requires further investigation maybe with a smaller number of people in order to try and operate in a more controlled environment.
